Exercise 3: Bouncing A Ball Animation Tutorial Recreation Without Squash and Stretch (Maya)

I followed the tutorial as it was in the book with the specific coordinates provided for the y-positions of the ball at various key frames. I was able to get the animation exactly as the tutorial showed up until the squash and stretch stuff. I enjoyed this tutorial and feel more comfortable using Maya and more comfortable with creating simple animations like this within it.

I also provided the multiple views and the animation timeline and curves for the ball.

1-Minute Startup Movies (#1-6)

The version of Maya used within the videos seem to be an older one, but all of the information and shortcuts given all still work. All the movies are still beneficial, especially when you're new to Maya, 3D modeling and 3D animation. The video about how to zoom, pan and roll helped me get the right view for the bouncing ball tutorial recreation and helped me get different angles when I was modeling the flower in the past exercise. These movies are short but are useful to those new to Maya or those who haven't used Maya in a long while.

Art of Maya Chapter 5

I knew that lighting and texture had an impact on thee overall scene, but I did not realize how many different light types there were or how differently the textures would capture/reflect the light. There's a noticeable difference in lighting between certain textures and even transparency can be captured through the lighting as well. It is interesting and informative to see all the factors that play into lighting, this information can help with the lighting of my scenes and models, but it can also apply to art such as painting too.
