Classmate Midterm Reviews

Everyone's projects were great and interesting but for this week's assignment I will look at  Tyler Getz's midterm project and Alex Lubeck's Midterm . Tyler Getz's Midterm This looks pretty cool, I like the animation that is there so far and the lily pads are nice. It would be nice to see some textures and to see the green frog get a face of some sort. The water would like really nice if it were textured and animated too, but depending on the look you are going for that may not be necessary, but ripples in the water would make sense. The character/frog animation can be improved by further exaggerating the squash and stretch. It may make it seem a bit more cartoonish if it is exaggerated a lot but it is already more abstract so I think it could work for this. Additionally, the animation can be improved by making the lily pads dip a bit down into the water from the impact of the frog landing on it. Midterm: Dinner table scene with camera animation

Image
I wanted to do a simple dinner table scene with a camera moving along the table. As you can see I reused the fruit bowl and teapot from the last exercises, this is one of the reasons I took so long working on the fruit bowl model. How the fruit bowl and teapot was made was explained in my other posts. For this project I just needed to add the dinner table, chairs, and plates. The plates were made by revolving around a curve and then adjusting it slightly, and the table and chairs are made up of several NURBS cubes. The chairs look pretty nice as does the table and fruit. I added some texture to the teapot and some to the plate too to create a better illusion of depth (they looked flatter without the gradient in the middle). I wanted some dramatic lighting so I have 1 spotlight and a soft ambient light so you can still see the silhouette of any chair further in the back as seen above and also to allow you to see the floor a bit better. I have camera animation but cou...

Exercise 6: Fruit Bowl Tutorial (Boolean method) and Fruit

Image
This is the final render of the model I made, It was challenging to figure out how to do the textures for the oranges, grapefruit and strawberries, but I learned a lot. This was very time consuming but it was worth it in my opinion.  Here's how I made the bowl      I used the Boolean method and created a NURBS sphere, I cut the sphere in half by selecting all edges above the center of the sphere and then I hit delete which left me with the shape shown above. I also decided to create a NURBS plane to use as a surface for my fruit bowl to sit on.     Then I duplicated the shape and scaled it down so it would rest in the bowl and would be used to make the bowl hollow like it is in this image. After lining up the scaled bowl inside of the original how I liked, I then I went to Mesh Booleans and used the difference option which created the inner lining of the bowl. I ended up smoothening the bowl later on. Time for some fruits     Th...

Exercise 5: Tea Pot Model

Image
This is the rendered view with some lighting I did for my tea pot model. This model was made out of 3 main parts, the lid, spout, body/base, and handle. The body and lid were made by creating a unique curve and revolving around it to get a 3D shape, small adjustments were made to the curve to get the shapes seen here. The handle was made from a partial and modified NURBS Torus and the spout was made from an edited NURBS cylinder.      Here is the 4 view layout with the Outliner. I added some lights and a plane to act as the floor.
